How Do They Differ?:
- This Luke is a Fandom AU, with him as an Imperial as opposed to fighting in the Rebel Alliance.
- Despite Imperial conditioning, Luke hasn't changed all that much. He's still a loving, kind young man that values his family and fights for the freedom of the galaxy. Having grown up in the Imperial Academy, however, he is more book smart than he was in canon, and he has a militaristic politeness to him (calling people "sir" and "ma'am"), but he is also slightly more sarcastic than normal for his age (think more on par with elder Luke from the sequels). He can be quick to anger and frustration like his canon counterpart, but he differs in that he allows himself to stew in his emotions, as he teeters a fine line between the light and the dark sides of the Force.

He (naively) believes that maintaining balance in the Force means to be neither too good with the use of the Force, nor too bad with it. This of course is not how the Force works, but he hasn't realized that yet. He also (naively) believes that if they remove the Emperor from power, it would solve all the problems within the Empire, not yet realizing that the Empire was made to be as broken as possible for the everyman, only catering to the rich and powerful.

Physically, he still has a prosthetic, though it's not the same as what he has in canon. Instead of just losing his hand, he lost most of his lower arm, and it was replaced by a metal arm built by Vader's personal medical droids. Normally he keeps it hidden under a compression gauntlet, but here it would be out for everyone to see.
Links to AU/CRAU canon or summaries: Luke's canon is one where he's found by his father when he was young, and removed from Tatooine to be sent to an Imperial Academy in the far reaches of the Outer Rim. His absence causes a number of events to be altered, people meeting sooner than they should, or some events just not happening entirely.

Powers (if altered): Luke's powers are largely the same for his canon point, however, he has used Force Lightning a number of times when his emotions are running high; usually this happens when he's angry to the point of blind rage. He doesn't really have control of this power outside of only being able to channel it through his flesh and blood hand, and it will leave its marks on him, burning his skin anywhere from a minor burn to turning it black.

History

Luke Skywalker is a near legendary revolutionary and Jedi Knight, serving in the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Growing up as a farmboy on the desolate world of Tatooine, Luke's destiny came knocking on his door in the form of two droids holding stolen data tapes to the Empire's new super weapon, the Death Star. After learning of his parentage and the Force from Obi-Wan Kenobi, they set out to return the droids to Alderaan, only to arrive too late and be drawn into the deadly battle station. Escaping with Princess Leia and Han Solo, Luke officially joined the Alliance and went on to destroy the Death Star.

In the three years that followed, Luke became a commander and respected leader in the Rebellion, leading Rogue Squadron through a number of victories, and especially defending the evacuating Alliance in the Battle of Hoth. After the battle, he sought out the legendary Jedi Master Yoda for further training in the Force. His time with him was cut short, and Vader lured him out into a confrontation by using his friends as bait. It was during the resulting battle that Luke learned the truth: Darth Vader, second to the Emperor, was his father.

Short a hand and armed with that terrible knowledge, Luke tried desperately to come to terms with the fact he had been lied to. It was some time before he could finally acknowledge it, and after he set out to build his own lightsaber, bringing himself that much closer to Knighthood. Returning to Tatooine, he set out to rescue Han from Jabba the Hutt's clutches, succeeding in toppling the gangster's operation in one fell swoop. He returned to Yoda after, but the old Master was near death's door. He confirmed that Luke already knew everything he needed, and that Vader was indeed his father, as well as alluding to another Skywalker before passing on. Luke realized through his conversation with the spirit of Obi-Wan that Leia was his sister, before returning the Alliance in time for a mission to destroy the new Death Star. Luke immediately realized that he was endangering the ground mission to destroy the shield that was protecting the new battle station, as Vader could sense he was near, leading to him leaving the group to confront Vader. Brought to the Death Star to stand before the Emperor, Luke struggled against his anger as the old man kept throwing in his face that his friends were going to die. His anger eventually won out, resulting in an almost feral battle against his father. Eventually he realized that if he continued on this path, he would become just like his father, and instead he decided to let go of his hate and anger, announcing himself a Jedi like his father before him. The Emperor tried to kill him, but Vader stopped him, sacrificing his own life to save his son and throw the Emperor into a reactor shaft. Anakin Skywalker passed on shortly after, finally seeing his son's face with his own eyes before he did so.

Iteration

This Luke was originally played at deercountry, where he had been changed into a Paleblood upon entering. Luke remained largely out of the limelight of the main plot; his most notable interactions being offering Cloverfield an ear to listen to his loss, and when his patron Pthumerian — The Reckoning — drove him mad with the need to seek justice. The events he participated in were more personal, like his struggles to have a positive relationship with his father, and his more intimate relationships, of which he admitted he was an utter disaster at. Speaking of disasters, Luke nearly dragged all of Trench into a big one, when his need to find answers about why his father served Palpatine as he did led to the memories of the man attached to his father’s lightsaber possessing him. He was driven out into the world at large, but was eventually defeated by Maul and others.

Canon Abilities

The Force in Star Wars is an ever present energy that binds all life (and even some non-life) in the Galaxy together. Those that are sensitive to it are capable of amazing, almost superhuman feats that most other organics cannot hope to match. Luke's connection to it in particular is very strong, and much like his father, he is practically a flaming beacon of power to other Force sensitives.

Some of Luke's abilities in the Force can be broken down as follows:

Telekinesis

Luke has demonstrated a rudimentary understanding of being able to lift and move objects using the Force. He was able to call his lightsaber to his hand in a moment of need without being expressly taught how to do so, and after some training, was able to lift and move heavier rocks and even R2-D2. However, he comes to a bit of a stumbling point when it comes to larger objects, as he is still stuck on the fact that something larger and heavier than himself would be impossible to move on his own. He has been working on divorcing himself of this belief after witnessing tiny Yoda lift his X-wing starfighter out of a swamp, though he isn't on that level yet.

Telepathy

Telepathy in the Force has a broad range, from being able to influence minds, to reaching out and communicating with others over a distance, to sensing the presence of others. While eventually he will be able to sway the weak minded, Luke only has a 50/50 chance of being successful; he understands the basic concept, though he hasn't quite managed it just yet (though that may change as canon is being updated on a regular schedule). Communication, however, is something he has managed, instinctively being able to reach out to Leia so she could come save him when he was in trouble. This only really works with people he's close to at the moment. Luke's senses, however, are very strong; he can pick up on presences he knows very easily, and is able to piece together where individuals are. He can even sense the energy powering droids, though not the droids themselves, given they are not alive in the same sense as an organic being. It was largely due to this sense that he was able to destroy the Death Star in the first place. This ability to sense can also work in reverse, allowing him to dampen his own presence in the Force, though he hasn't come close to mastering this yet.

Precognition

Precognition falls under two categories: anticipation of actions and visions of the future. Even at his point, Luke has demonstrated a remarkable ability to anticipate and react to outside influences, whether it's to intercept a blaster bolt or to help prevent someone else from being injured by debris. This ability is the one he's had the most practice in, as it's one of the first things Obi-Wan taught him. Future visions, however, is a bit of a double edged sword for Luke, much like they were for his father. While being able to see the future has helped, particularly bad visions tend to linger, plaguing his nightmares until he does something about them.

Body Conditioning

Yoda didn't exactly have Luke running around in a swamp because he wanted a free ride. By training his body, Luke was able to learn to reach though the Force to help aid himself, improving on his own physical limitations that he otherwise would not have been able to improve on naturally. This is what enables him to perform jumps and feats of endurance that a normal human would be unable to otherwise.

He’s shown this kindness in Deer County, and, not much will change in Folkmore: he’s always going to be willing to lend a hand, and will always reach out to others with kindness, even if they themselves don’t believe they deserve it.

❥ Personality

Luke is a person with a big heart, that he wears on his sleeve at all times. His ability to be kind and forgive go hand and hand, and are most obvious when one looks at the relationship he has with his father. Literally no one else in the galaxy would even give Vader a chance; many believed that the only way to stop his evil was to just kill him. But Luke defied that, pretty much snubbing everyone by setting aside the fact that his father had tortured his friends and maimed him, for the sake of using his love to drag Anakin back from the Dark.

Luke’s determination knows no bounds. He has participated and led countless campaigns during the war against the Empire, many of which were practically suicide missions, like when he aided in the capture of a Star Destroyer in order to break through a blockade and deliver much needed aid to a planet suffering under the Empire’s oppression. Were it not for his determination to see things through to the end (successfully or not), the Rebellion may well have struggled to get the traction it needed to be a credible force against the Empire.

While Luke’s determination has helped the Rebellion, it can devolve into outright stubbornness at times, becoming more harmful than helpful. Most notable of this is when he went running into Vader’s trap at Bespin; he knew it was a trap, knew that Yoda was right in warning him to stay away for the greater good, but his stubborn need to protect his friends had him ignoring all the warnings. In the end, he was the one that needed to be rescued, and ultimately had done more harm to his friends than good.

Luke’s stubbornness also shows how reckless he can be; he literally throws himself into situations that require much more thought than he allows himself to make. The above example is one of the many times, but this has been happening since he was a child. At eight years old, he confronted a group of Jabba’s goons that were collecting water taxes during a drought, something that he certainly should not have been doing, that he just ran off to do in the middle of the night without his aunt and uncle even knowing he left.

While Luke has grown out of his naivety by his canon point, it’s been an issue for him in the past. Biggest example of this is when he teamed up with Doctor Aphra — who before this point had been working with Vader to capture him — foolishly trusting her in going to a planet where a queen could unlock an ancient Jedi artifact. Said queen turned out to be the queen of a hive of essentially body snatching bugs, and Aphra was (initially) more than happy to ditch Luke in favor of getting what she wanted, to literally no one’s surprise but his.

Overall, Luke is the very definition of a hero. He has a big destiny, and understands the responsibility that role requires, and follows the path he chose with goodness in his heart and a hand reached out to help those in need.

Luke didn't need a bodyguard. He was strong enough and confident enough in his own abilities that having someone else around to "protect" him was just deadweight as far as he was concerned. The only thing that was a real threat to him was the Emperor, and the only reason the old man hadn't tried anything against him was because they both knew his father would raze the entire galaxy in revenge. It was because his father was Darth Vader that he felt so confident; he learned everything he knew from him, and what better teacher was out there than his six foot, black suited terror of a father?

Luke didn't need a bodyguard, but he found himself staring at one anyway, because his father insisted.

He folded his arms over his chest as he looked the man up and down. The redhead was a little bit older than him, but not by much if he had to guess, and he was taller than him, but that wasn't something that was difficult. He had the same red-tinged yellow eyes like all the other Dark Siders he had met in his life, and considering it was his father that sent this man, Luke supposed he was one of the Inquisitors. They were supposed to be hunting down the remaining Jedi in the galaxy, not babysitting him, so he could imagine this was more of a punishment for the Inquisitor than it was for him.

Luke finally let out a sigh, unfolding his arms and planted one fist on a hip.

"So? Which number are you?"

Personality: Luke is the very definition of a heroic character, with all the good and bad that entails. He maintains a farm boy innocence to him even at his canon point, despite the maturity he has begun to build. He truly has a good heart, and wouldn't knowingly do anything wrong if he could avoid it. His innocence shows most in his face; he has a smile that can light up a room in even the darkest of moments, but there is also a bit of naivety to his actions and opinions. Oftentimes he comes up with plans that would usually go badly, purely because he believes in his heart that he can make it work. Sometimes it does, though only because Luke has the Force as back up. Other times he's lucky to come out of it with his life, chief example among this being literally any time he's confronted Darth Vader. On that note, he also never gives up on believing the best in people, including his father, believing him redeemable until the very end.

Skywalker stubbornness is legendary in the galaxy, and Luke is no exception. When he gets a thought in his head, he pursues it to the very end, no matter how many times he has to change plans along the way. He is very much a person ruled by impulsiveness and recklessness, and has been known to go off on his own with little consideration for his own safety. His training with Yoda did a little to tame this, though perhaps the biggest lesson in learning this behavior was not okay came from losing his hand while fighting Darth Vader. He still has moments where he has knee jerk reactions and jumping in without seeing the whole picture (especially without the Force to back him up), but these moments will likely be infrequent.

Since he was a child, he had a strong sense of morality, and wouldn't put up with people that tried to go against that, going so far as to stand up against thugs that were taking water from poor farmers during a drought when he was eight years old. This continues well into adulthood, and he's notably been unable to ignore people in need, to the point of endangering the success of a mission. Despite this moral high ground, he doesn't seem to have an arrogant, pushy side about it -- what little arrogance he has comes from his own abilities as a pilot, and even then, the most that extends to is bragging about being able to take potshots at 2-meter long rodents in a moving vehicle. Despite his adventure lust and all he has accomplished so far, Luke is surprisingly humble, and almost a little confidence shy, especially when it comes to his Force training, which led to him parting ways with the Alliance more than once.

Luke is very much a young man ruled by his emotions, and while he's learned control, this can sometimes be detrimental. He's managed to control his fear, something that even Vader makes note of, but his anger is a weakness of his. Much like his father, he's quick to respond with anger when someone wrongs him or his friends, which often is the source of a lot of his poor life choices. It's often out of anger that he allows Vader to bait him into confrontations -- or even go after him himself, as was the case on Cymoon 1 despite all the warnings he had to run away. It's also led him to speaking his mind a little too quickly, sometimes spouting off an opinion that may have best been left unsaid. On the positive side, he's also a very loving individual, as evidenced by his care and affection for his friends. He has nothing but the utmost faith in them and would do anything for them, and even when they get on his nerves (as Han does on occasion), he's quick to forgive them. He can also be easily excitable, especially when it comes to talking about working on machinery or piloting, and he is more than happy to babble endlessly about his endeavors in both areas.

In the end, Luke is the very definition of a heroic character. He starts out with the belief that a hero is an adventure seeker, always out to do good in the galaxy, without really thinking about the cost of it. Now, however, he has come to understand the responsibility that role requires, and is finding the humble state of mind to continue following the path he chose.

Weaknesses/Temptations: Luke’s biggest, glaring weakness is the people he calls friends and family. He believes in the people he’s close to, and has faith in them and their ability to pull through anything. Threatening or actually harming them is a quick way to stab his rage button, as shown in canon when Vader threatens to turn Leia to the dark side.

His adventure lust has led him into trouble more often than not. While his desire to run off and seek adventures has toned down by this point, running off toward a situation in which he could help someone or do some kind of good is still hard for him to resist.

Much like his father before him, the need for power in order to protect others is a massive temptation for him. This, coupled with the Force and the corrupting effects of the Dark Side, could have devastating consequences on both Luke himself and others around him. This could lead to him becoming potentially more destructive, and possibly even using that power against the people he wanted to protect.

Powers/Abilities: It's important to note that even after confronting the Emperor, Luke's potential for the Force is near limitless for either side -- Dark (the "bad" side) or Light (the "good" side). He's demonstrated his ability to learn even complicated powers by just piecing together the brief guidance he received from Obi-Wan during the first movie, and has even used powers that are inherently Dark Side based with no visible detriment. While it's his intention to follow the Light Side, he is not perfect, and a setting like this, with outside forces taking advantage of his weaknesses, could still tempt him down the Dark Path.

Force Strong
The Force in Star Wars is an ever present energy that binds all life (and even some non-life) in the Galaxy together. Those that are sensitive to it are capable of amazing, almost superhuman feats that most other organics cannot hope to match. Luke's connection to it in particular is very strong, and much like his father, he is practically a flaming beacon of power to other Force sensitives.

Some of Luke's abilities in the Force can be broken down as follows:

Telekinesis: Luke has demonstrated a rudimentary understanding of being able to lift and move objects using the Force. He was able to call his lightsaber to his hand in a moment of need without being expressly taught how to do so, and after some training, was able to lift and move heavier rocks and even R2-D2. However, he comes to a bit of a stumbling point when it comes to larger objects, as he is still stuck on the fact that something larger and heavier than himself would be impossible to move on his own. He has been working on divorcing himself of this belief after witnessing tiny Yoda lift his X-wing starfighter out of a swamp, though he isn't on that level yet.

Telepathy: Telepathy in the Force has a broad range, from being able to influence minds, to reaching out and communicating with others over a distance, to sensing the presence of others. While eventually he will be able to sway the weak minded, Luke only has a 50/50 chance of being successful; he understands the basic concept, though he hasn't quite managed it just yet (though that may change as canon is being updated on a regular schedule). Communication, however, is something he has managed, instinctively being able to reach out to Leia so she could come save him when he was in trouble. This only really works with people he's close to at the moment. Luke's senses, however, are very strong; he can pick up on presences he knows very easily, and is able to piece together where individuals are. He can even sense the energy powering droids, though not the droids themselves, given they are not alive in the same sense as an organic being. It was largely due to this sense that he was able to destroy the Death Star in the first place. This ability to sense can also work in reverse, allowing him to dampen his own presence in the Force, though he hasn't come close to mastering this yet.

Precognition: Precognition falls under two categories: anticipation of actions and visions of the future. Even at his point, Luke has demonstrated a remarkable ability to anticipate and react to outside influences, whether it's to intercept a blaster bolt or to help prevent someone else from being injured by debris. This ability is the one he's had the most practice in, as it's one of the first things Obi-Wan taught him. Future visions, however, is a bit of a double edged sword for Luke, much like they were for his father. While being able to see the future has helped, particularly bad visions tend to linger, plaguing his nightmares until he does something about them.

Body Conditioning: Yoda didn't exactly have Luke running around in a swamp because he wanted a free ride. By training his body, Luke was able to learn to reach though the Force to help aid himself, improving on his own physical limitations that he otherwise would not have been able to improve on naturally. This is what enables him to perform jumps and feats of endurance that a normal human would be unable to otherwise.

PSL: Krennec and the Imperial Prince

There were certain expectations one would expect from someone that claimed to be Darth Vader's son. There was a certain cruelty that was implied, considering Vader was the most brutal, most exacting leader in the Empire. An air of indifference was also expected, though that was largely because Vader's suit set him apart from everyone in the real world. Considering a child of his would also have a royal title of some kind, the vestments such a child would be expected to wear would likely mirror such a separation. Lastly, and likely most importantly, was height; Vader was a pillar of power that towered over literally everyone in the Empire.

Luke Skywalker was none of these things.

He arrived on the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station in the exact time he said he would arrive, in only a standard Imperial Lambda-class shuttle with no markings. There was no pilot other than himself, and only a single stormtrooper served as his escort (and that was entirely because if Luke ever went anywhere without telling Kreel, he would never hear the end of it). He was wearing the most plane black outfit imaginable, with no insignia in sight, and the only "fanciness" being a plane half cloak that concealed his left side and ended around his knees. Most of all, he was woefully short and so very, very young, barely into his teenage years.

Luke paused at the end of the shuttle ramp, glancing around the completed docking bay he had been directed to land in. His father had done little to conceal his distaste for the battle station, and considering the sight of it on his approach, he couldn't help but agree with him. It was clear it's only purpose was to serve as a deterrent, instilling fear in the masses that if they so much twitched out of line, the Emperor would be more than happy to eliminate them.

It was entirely exhausting to imagine and irritating in its waste of resources.

He finally turned his focus to the Director waiting for him, blue eyes training on him like he was looking through him. Of course he had read up on Krennec's file while he was enroute, and also took his father's words into account (a "small man" and a "petty careerist", among other less than kind descriptions). He had a feeling he knew what to expect at this point, especially once he saw it was just Krennec there waiting for him.

"Director," he began, approaching him and stopping within arms reach, looking up at him, "thank you for honoring my request, and not announcing my arrival with a ceremony. The work here is already behind; I would not have wanted to pull your staff away needlessly."

The announcement came to everyone in the form of a dream. The goddesses they had fought against, apologizing that they could not fulfill their promise; the multiverse was too unstable to keep their little melting pot of realities as it was. The Porters would need to be closed, but to make it up to them, they would use the power they had to send them wherever they wanted: they could stay, go home, or go to another reality altogether.

It should have been an easy choice, but when Luke woke up that morning, he felt conflicted.

He should go home; he was the last of the Jedi, and he had an obligation to revive the Order. Besides, it seemed they would be able to remember what happened here; maybe he could keep himself from making the same mistakes this time. Yet when he thought about it, thought about how him and Leia never spoke anymore, how his own nephew hated him more than anything, how he had been betrayed and lied to endlessly, the thought of going home turned his stomach.

When he finally removed himself from his bed (crawling out from under Ace, who picked up he was sad and flopped on top of him to make him feel better), he dressed slowly, coming to a realization of what he wanted as he did so. His gaze fell to the window, staring out like he could see his destination even though it was no where in sight, before finally turning to the big dog.

"C'mon boy," he said softly, clipping on his leash, before quickly heading out the door.

It was a bit of a walk, though nothing he wasn't used to; yet Luke still felt out of breath when he finally made it to Lucina's place. He hesitated at her door, doubts and fears momentarily worming into his head, and it took Ace sitting down and whining softly before he finally quickly knocked on her door.

Fractured World - Empire of Light

✯ ARRIVAL
Stepping out of the portal in this place is like stepping into a dream, where reality and fantasy got smashed together into something almost harmonious. Some may recognize where they've ended up -- after all, that pointless castle in the middle of Central Park sticks out like a sore thumb in any reality, it seems, never mind how much it looks like its been put to practical use here.

There's someone waiting as soon as people arrive through the Porter, almost as if they were expected. The man there has a youthful face, but tired lines around his eyes and mouth make it look like he's much older than he really is. He's dressed simply, almost like he could be just anyone.

"Welcome," he says warmly, like he's known you your whole life, "though I know you are not here by choice, it is my hope that you will find this place welcoming and comfortable. This small Empire is a haven, a place for people unwilling to dive into the conflicts of this world to call home and relax. As long as you follow the laws here and do no harm to others, you will always be welcome here."

After the little speech, the new arrivals are led away to a small, private bathing area to rest and clean up while their clothes are laundered or repaired, if need be. The native who guides them adamantly fills the arrivals in on the state of the world, and reiterates that the Empire of Light is a s̵̠̘̟̒ã̸̞̤̈́f̵̺͂e̶̪̝̿͗͘ ̷̫͍̊̐͜͠p̸͖͊̍͝ľ̵̙̣͛̇ȃ̵̦̪͠c̸̜͑̽e̷̼̘͋͆͜. It... may seem a little odd, but this is a new world, after all...

✯ WELCOME
Once new arrivals are cleaned up and ready, they're taken out to the main square of the city that once stood here before everything fell apart. Those from a similar background would recognize it as Times Square, cleaned up in a way it has never been, even when it was new. Billboards are alight with advertisements of social services and the latest entertainment available. Anything technological seems to have been mated together with nature; billboards are framed by wood, vines are wrapped securely around and feed into traffic lights, ect. Even the phone the native hands out to new arrivals looks more like it's made from tree bark than metal and circuits.

Stands have been set up outside shops all along Times Square, showing off what's available and offering free samples of food and drink. It won't take long for arrivals to realize that currency isn't a thing; most shops deal in favors or even trade for their goods. Both natives and imPorts mingle around freely through the square, and it's clear that there is a close kinship between the two. There's no trial to take, no oath to swear; just a promise of safety as long as you maintain the p̷̥̌e̴̢̬͂̓a̷̛̗͍͒c̸̜̭̗̉̆ē̵̺͛ the Empire enjoys. In fact, the longer the new arrivals stay, the more they may come to realize that this is a s̶̰̿̅̄ạ̸̧̑̎͝f̷̧̀̀ȇ̴ͅ place, and the thought of leaving would be absolutely terrible...

Others may feel that something is o̷̹͝f̶̧̆̓̓f̸̘̳͒͐͝. For a place in the middle of a world where imPorts call themselves superior, it's a little too idealistic. A little too p̵̬̺̓ę̶̞͖͑a̸̼̓͌c̸̹͓̺̿̾͘e̴͑ͅf̵̩̠͆͗u̶͈̣̱̿̒͐l̶̝͋͋̈́. As the new arrivals unaffected by whatever is making others relax and go along with the cheerful atmosphere continue along, they may become aware of eyes, watching them, of an imposing figure keeping a careful eye over everyone attending the welcoming party. The very look of him screams danger, that if they don't go along with this fake peace, that man will be paying them a very direct visit.

Others still may realize there is another watching as well, lurking in the background, but the chances of seeing them depend on just how good their awareness is, and if their powers will let them see that which doesn't wish to be seen.

✯ NETWORK
The network is free and open to all that maintain the communicator they are given on their arrival. There are a number of websites maintained by those in the Empire -- a fiction archive, news sites, social media, ect. -- though access to some of these sites are restricted to younger arrivals.

Calls and texts can be made to anyone in the Empire rather easily. However, anyone wishing to communicate with people part of other factions will experience difficulty. Calls are frequently dropped for no reason, and sometimes text messages don't make it through.

Those that openly speak on the network of how the peace the Empire maintains doesn't seem right will find themselves experiencing difficulty connecting to the network. If they continue, they may get a surprise visit in the middle of the night...
