I saw your memories of Bespin, months ago. How, after that, did you still have hope for Anakin?

[ Luke paused at that, and for a moment he was grateful that she couldn't see him right now, because his hand was going for his prosthetic, wincing against phantom pain. Yes, what happened on Bespin still stung; it probably would be a long time before it didn't, especially if he was idle like this. ]

I'm sorry you had to see that.

[ He paused. ]

I think... there were many opportunities for Darth Vader to kill me. Not just on Bespin, but everything leading up to that. But he didn't, and I don't believe he could. If he were truly gone, I don't think he would have hesitated. I really think Anakin, the man I've come to known here, is still in there somewhere.

Kylo is... complicated.

[ It was the only word he could think of to describe it, and even that felt inadequate. ]

I sense the conflict in him under all that darkness, but that darkness can be so overwhelming at times, that I'm not even sure he understands why he feels it so strongly. But... at the same time, I don't think that's a bad thing.

I'm not sure any of you can understand it.

There was so much history lost. What you have been taught -- it is a fraction at best of the Jedi Order's knowledge.

I myself cannot understand it, because I was not privy to the Jedi history in whole.
